Common questions

What people ask us.

Everything you need to know about the Dime Accreditation program before you get started.

We have spent 20+ years inside the books of churches and nonprofits. We know what good financial stewardship looks like, and more importantly, we know how to verify it. This isn't a rubber stamp from a company that learned ministry finance last year. It's a real review by people who have seen everything: the wins, the missteps, and everything in between.

When Dime puts its name on your organization, it means something.

You get the Dime Accreditation seal: a verified signal to your board, your donors, and your community that your organization handles money with integrity. You will have the right to display it on your website and in your communications.

More than the badge, you get the peace of mind that comes from knowing your financial house has been reviewed and approved by people who actually know what they're looking at.

It depends on which tier you're pursuing. Silver is automatic for active Dime Accounting customers who follow our standard processes, with no extra steps required. Gold requires completing an Agreed Upon Procedures (AUP) engagement with an independent CPA firm, which tests specific financial areas. Platinum adds a full independent audit of your financial statements.

At every level, Dime reviews the results and verifies compliance before granting the seal.

Because trust is earned, not assumed. Your donors give sacrificially. Your board carries real fiduciary responsibility. And in an era when financial mismanagement in ministry makes headlines, visible accountability matters more than ever.

Accreditation gives everyone, inside and outside your organization, proof that you're doing it right. It's not just a badge. It's a commitment.

An AUP is a targeted engagement where an independent CPA firm performs a specific, pre-defined set of procedures on your financial records and reports exactly what they found. It's not a full audit, but it's a meaningful review of the areas that matter most: donor deposits, restricted funds, cash balances, expense activity, and more.

For Gold accreditation, we use AUPs to verify that your controls are actually working the way they're supposed to.

Each represents a different level of assurance. A compilation is the most basic: your accountant organizes the numbers but provides no verification. A review involves analytical procedures and offers limited assurance that the financials are reasonable. An AUP tests specific, agreed-upon areas and reports the results without a formal opinion. A full audit is the most comprehensive: extensive testing, sampling, and an independent opinion on whether your financial statements are fairly presented.

Gold accreditation requires an AUP. Platinum requires a full audit.

That depends on your size, your donor base, and what your board or denomination requires. For most churches and nonprofits in the $500K to $5M budget range, an AUP is often the right starting point, offering meaningful assurance without the full cost of a complete audit. If your budget exceeds $5M, if you're receiving significant grants, or if your denomination requires it, a full audit may be the right move.

We're happy to help you figure out what makes sense for your organization. Just reach out.

Silver accreditation is free for active Dime Accounting customers. Gold starts at $1,500 plus the cost of the AUP engagement with an independent CPA firm. Platinum starts at $2,000 plus the cost of a full independent audit.

The third-party engagement cost varies based on your organization's size and complexity. We can help you understand what to expect and connect you with the right people.

No, and that's intentional. To perform an audit, a CPA firm must be independent of the organization they're reviewing. Since we prepare your books, we cannot also audit them. That would be a conflict of interest, and it would make the accreditation meaningless.

For Gold and Platinum accreditation, we work alongside independent CPA firms who handle the AUP or audit engagement. Then we review the results and grant the seal. That separation keeps the process credible and keeps you protected.
